I have 2 cameras, a Canon DSLR and a Canon SLR and I don’t know anything about them. So this year I have declared it THE YEAR OF THE CAMERA! Yep, I’m new, uneducated as far as camera use, I take some pretty bad pictures. Oh, some are cringe-worthy (nope, I’m not going to show the really blurry ones that make you wonder if you need to make a trip to the eye doctors office) and the really awful ones they are so bad using the delete button is doing these pictures a favor!
This is one of those bad ones. It is a quick picture taken out of the car window. Oh Look, there is a horse in the horse trailer! Not only is it a bad picture of the horse, you get to see the car vent, the side of the car window frame, the little speaker thing in the frame and even the windshield wiper. But the horse is so far down the road if you squint you might be able to imagine you see a horse.
And here is the picture of Bison! You know Buffalo, big animals that are so ugly they are cute! They are out there, I saw them, I took the picture. And if this picture is worth a thousand words the words would include, what buffalo, they look like weeds, etc etc. Nope, this picture is not what it needs to be.
So you ask why am I showing the best of the worse? It is because I want you to follow along on the journey of learning about picture taking. The journey will take me to web places like Digital photography school and insights from classes on Lynda.com and Udemy and hopefully will include pictures that resemble what they should look like as well as “inspiration” moments.
Don’t worry, this is not a paid post. I really am just learning, and I am not getting paid to do this or to reference these websites. I have found them to be useful and hope to glean enough information so if I take another picture of a horse or bison you will actually be able to see it!
There is one more thing! I do have a camera on my phone. It takes some pretty good pictures even though I don’t know what I am doing, and yes I need to learn more about the phone camera also.
Oh Hawaii, are there any bad pictures of paradise?
Now I’m off to learn something about photography, I’ll be back soon to share. In the meantime, let me know if you have any favorite “learning” links!
